Warm-up: 6 questions (from Promethean Board) highlighting  patterns in upcoming fraction and percent illustrations.

Classwork:

  • ALL PERIODS:   Unit #4, page 10.   [Challenge portion for page 10:  complete a new column for percentages related to sixteenths (1/16, 2/16, 3/16, ...16/16)]
  • Period 6: ...in addition to page 10 ( see "all periods" above), also completed page 11.

Turned-in: Unit #4, Page 12

Homework:

  • Periods 1, 2 & 5:    Unit #4, Page 13
    • [Challenge portion: make up 4 more problems (#9, #10, #11, #12) by listing 4 other "fractions" or "percents" that could be represented by either grid A, grid B, or grid C.  Wrtie down the fraction or percent, but DO NOT write down the letter A, B, or C, just leaving a "blank" after them like in the original problems... we'll try to see if others can figure them out in class on Monday.]
  • Period 6:   complete Unit #4, Page 10  [...see "Challenge" in classwork section above]

Notes:

Students who received a score of 14 or lower (70%) on the Unit #2 test on "Rectangular Prisms" will have a chance to re-take the test beginning on Thursday (Dec. 20). Students choosing to re-take the test will have to make arrangements to do so outside of regular class time. Possible times are:

  • during recess
  • during B.E.S.T. class, with permission of the student's B.E.S.T. teacher
  • after school
  • before school (with ADVANCE notice to Mr Usem)

Students who wish to re-test should talk with Mr. Usem before hand to make arrangements, and to insure that they understand what they missed and how to do those problems correctly. Students should STUDY and PRACTICE prior to taking the re-test. Re-tests need to be completed by Jan 8th at the lastest.
