Lessons-Part 1:  Copy & Solve...

   1)   y + 12 = 23        y = _____
   2)   5x + 5 = 15        x = _____
   3)   7 + 3w = 37       w = _____
   4)   100 =  120 - 4k     k = _____

Classwork:   We went over the homework assignments, and modeled a new method (the "balancing method") for showing your work in solving equations for variables.

-Students who had not finished the MCA test yet were excused from class to complete it today.

Turned-in:     2 things...

  1. MCA Test -Review & Practice Packet - 6 pages -[grey color]
  2. MSA -A.C.E. pg.57: #1-14 (H/W pass do... all EVEN numbered problems - #2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, 14)

Homework:

  • Periods 1, 4, 6:  REDO.... MSA -A.C.E. pg.59: #12 & 14 -SHOWING YOUR WORK using the "balancing method" for solving equations that we modeled in class today  (no H/W passes)
  • Periods 7:  REDO.... MSA -A.C.E. pg.59: #11 -SHOWING YOUR WORK using the "balancing method" for solving equations that we modeled in class today  (no H/W passes)

-----------------------------------------------------------

  • REMINDER:  At most, homework is designed such that students should spend 30-40 minutes maximum of focused effort on their homework assignments on any night. (*Please note that not all assignments are designed to take 30-40 minutes, that is only the maximum time... most homework assignments should be able to be accomplished in less time.) If an assignment is taking longer than that, students should stop working, and come in with the work, as completed, for class the next day to discuss with the teacher the issues the student may be having that is making it difficult for him/her to complete the assignment
