The sun is shining!  Quick! Get outside and enjoy!

Have a great long weekend.  Go have some fun!

(5/24)

More than one of us got chills - including Mr. Norlin-Weaver - hearing that President Obama awarded the Congressional Gold Medal to the 4 victims of the 16th Street Baptist Church Bombing on the same day as we read the Epilogue of The Watsons go to Birmingham-1963.  Quite inspiring!  (Check it out on whitehouse.gov - I hope.)

So, we have returned all study guides that were handed in, sent students home to study and will collect ungraded ones on Tuesday or Wednesday.  The test has been moved to Wednesday. The test will focus on plot and character elements, and themes (family, humor and Civil Rights/racism).

Tuesday we will review our portfolios. Students can bring back writing projects they have brought home and add them to their collection.  I plan to return stories at that time.

Students seem to be enjoying working with algebra!  We will be concluding this unit next week,. Students should look for a test assessment on this unit either Wednesday or Thursday.

I was gone from school on Friday morning for a meeting that was re-scheduled, so I was not available for students to do a re-test on Unit #5 during recess as I had planned.... therefore I will allow students ONE MORE DAY, on Tuesday, May 28, to come in to take the re-test, if they have not done so already. (*Remember, students need to turn-in a completed "extra-practice" worksheet on Unit #5, in order to be able to take the re-test.)

Thursday of this week I handed out progress reports to all students, showing their current class grade, and any missing assignments.  Students should have brought home this progress report, and should return it (by Wednesday, May 29) SIGNED BY A PARENT/GUARDIAN; students who return it signed by Wednesday will receive a couple of extra-credit points. Missing assignments can be turned in next week for late-credit; late assignments should be turned-in by Friday, May 31, to receive credit.

Have a great 3-day weekend.... do something FUN with your kids!
