Fifth grade 101:
Homework! Remember to check out Hill, Rausch, & Kolbinger's websites as they have assignments and calendars avaialable on their web pages. (Go to maryhillscience @weebly.com until the link is made for the Field website.)  We are noticing that some students are not understanding the importance of turning in homework on time.  Progress reports will go out next week with current grades.  We encourage students/patents to check the portals and planners for due dates and current grades.

  Have a great weekend!
Smarter than a 5th Grader?

* It is expected that students are turning in homework every Friday.

Upcoming Due Dates:

Science promotes academic excellence!

We have started using mealworms to help us identify what is important to look at when using OBSERVATION skills.  The weather would not cooperate so we will complete our experiment next week.

Speaking of not cooperating, our computers and printers were not talking.  Since the beginning of the year, more than half of the teachers could not print assignments from computers or discs.  As of lunch time today, I am able to print.  Lucky for the kids- no homework this week!

Ms Hill

On Monday we got new seats and started Unit 2, Rational Numbers. We will be studying fractions, fractions, and fraction in this unit!

This Thursday was the first quiz retake available to students that were unsatisfied with their grade. Students that scored a D or F on their math quiz were provided additional help in BEST with Mr. Hamilton. These students did their quiz retake on Thursday or Friday in his class. Students that scored a B- or C were able to retake their quiz on their own if they filled out an action plan and came to my Advisory on Thursday. Almost every student that got a C on their quiz chose to come to my Advisory and redo their quiz! :)

Next week we will continue working out of the Unit 2 workbook. Students should keep their Unit 1 workbooks at home from now on. I encouraged students to save their old workbooks until the end of the year so that before the MCA test they had resources to study from that covered all the fifth grade standards.

Reminder: Next week there will be a quiz on Friday.

Have a wonderful weekend!
