Continuing our study of the screenplay from the Twilight Zone, we reread it like an actor or director. Parts will be given out and a class performance is planned. We will also write a response paragraph to compare the themes of collective fear and prejudice.

Homework journals are due the first day of the week, for the previous weeks reading. This weeks journal is due on 12/15.

Get your books orders in by Friday; I plan to have books delivered before break. Online orders can be placed at: schoastic.com/readingclub. The class code is: GY6CM

Reading homework journal:  blank forms are available here.
Math
Greetings!
Monday:  Practice for division with decimals quiz
Tuesday:  Shortened class period because of concert, so division quiz will be whole hour after questions
Wednesday-Friday:  review decimal, fraction, percent conversion and working with percents

Homework:

Homework Assignments: Students will have math homework assignment every Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.  The assignment is due the next day.  Students are expected to write the assignment in their planner at the beginning of every class period.  Please check planners!  Homework is designed to help students practice skills taught in the classroom.  We take notes in class and have practice problems written down in the students' notebooks, so they have a reference/help resource when completing the homework each night.  The time it takes students to finish the assignments will vary based on the students ability, but NO ONE should spend more than 30 minutes completing an assignment.

Please contact me if you have any questions.

Last week:

1. We built cubes with straws and paper clips.  Criteria: the cube must stand on its own and bear some extra weight.  Constraints:  limited materials, limited ways of connecting the materials. . . I was so impressed with the cooperation and perseverance shown by our students!

2.  Review quiz -- covering some topics we have already encountered.  (There will be more of these!)

This week:

-- Types of Bridges

-- Straw Truss Bridges:  building stable structures with only straws and paper clips

Homework this week:

-- HW5 New 35W Bridge:  analyze the new design and its improvements.  Added option:  design your own replacement bridge.  Due by Thursday, Dec. 4.

Almost all homework and class assignments are available on Husby's school web page.   (Click on "Homework" or "Class Assignments.")

Social Studies
