Greetings!

This week we are taking a quiz on adding and subtracting fractions on Tuesday.  We will be moving fast through multiplication of fractions this week and division of fractions next week.  The end of the until is right around the corner.  Make sure your child is keeping up with homework and classwork assignments.

Homework is assigned on Mondays and Wednesdays, and due the next day.   It should usually take no more than 30-45 minutes.  Students will have detailed notes from class to use to help with homework.  The idea of homework is to practice what was learned in class or review previous mastered concepts.

If you have ANY questions, worries, or wonderings PLEASE send an e-mail so I can help you as soon as possible.  My e-mail is Lonna.Wilson@mpls.k12.mn.us

Thank You!

 Ms. Wilson

Last week students reviewed the basics of forces, work, frictions, and simple machines.

This week, students will build models of various machines with our Lego kits, and identify the trade-offs involved in each device.   For example, "gearing up" means transferring motion to a smaller gear, which reduces the force necessary to drive the gear, but increases the turning speed.

Homework this week:  Design a "Rube Goldberg" device -- a complicated system of interconnected parts -- to accomplish a simple task.
