6th GRADE NEWSLETTER
Monday, Sept. 18, 2017

Greetings!

Curriculum Night:  Tuesday (Sept 19) is Curriculum Night at Field!
Beginning promptly at 6:15, you are invited to follow your student's daily schedule for 10 minute classes, so you can find out what your student is learning in each class!  See you there!

Hurricane Harvey Student Fundraiser:  AVID students have "adopted" a school in Texas, and have organized a fundraiser to help them recover.  Students are encouraged to bring what they can any day next week and the week after.

Staying on top of things:  Most students feel most successful when they know where to find their papers, know when things are due, and feel in control of their materials.  Some 6th graders can manage this well all by themselves, but many still need a bit of assistance to develop helpful organization routines.  This would be a great time to sit down with your 6th grader and have a conversation and a look at their materials.

Planners:  Parents I am having students write in their planners DAILY what the specific homework assignment is for the day. Including Fridays.
If your child does not have or remember their homework, please check the parent portal.  I will list the assignment.  If the assignment is a worksheet I will have a pdf of the worksheet attached to the title of the assignment. Click on the paperclip icon and the pdf will appear.

Whew!  The first learning target quiz is done.  Students were very focused and meticulous about completing all questions last Friday.  It was fabulous to see so many students using their bookmarks for vocabulary hints and example problems. Overall scores were fantastic!
The grades are in the portal.  Re-takes can happen during advisory on Thursday's. Students should see me for help/questions/forms during advisory on Tuesday to prepare for re-takes on Thursday.
