MCA Testing
  • MCA Math testing is THIS WEEK, and will be done within students' math class periods that week.
  • During testing weeks, please help ensure that your child has a good night's rest each night, and that they each have healthy, nutritious, protein-packed breakfasts & lunches. This will help them to maintain their energy throughout the day, and provide their bodies and brains with an adequate fuel supply in order to help them do their best on the tests.
  • Also, talk to your child about the importance of them really trying to do their best on each test, and to not "rush through" any of the sections. We realize that testing is not necessarily fun, and that everyone wants to finish as soon as possible during the testing window, but, though these state-mandated tests are only one particular measure, they do carry great weight and are an important measure of students' progress in school. Tests are not timed, and students will have as much time as they need to complete each test section.

Language Arts:
This week we begin with song lyrics, Mr. Wendal. Through this piece and one we used last week we are looking at how authors word choices effect readers emotions.

We will also read a short story titled "Eleven" by Sandra Cisnerous. "Eleven" helps us see the relationship between power/authority and voice, i.e. whose voices are ignored or listened to.

Have a great week.

- Ms. Halasz
