History Day Projects due Monday, February 29th.
We are in the final days of our work on History Day projects in U.S. Studies.  We will have access to Lab 118 each day this week.  Students should be using time at home, as well, to
create their project (typing up text, printing/cutting out images and pasting onto exhibit boards, organizing the bibliography, finishing websites or documentaries).  Also, if working with a partner, students will need to find time to get together outside of class. I am available to help students before school at 7:30 am and after school each day this week.
***Any parents interested in interviewing students on History Day at Field on Tuesday, March 1st, please contact Nicky Odermatt at nicole.odermatt@mpls.k12.mn.us.  Each hour, students will head to the media center to present their projects.  Your help would be appreciated any time during 2nd, 4th, 6th or 7th hours.

    Science
2/22/16
Part of what we will do this week includes:
  • Unit 4 written test (Monday)
  • Unit 4 Lab Test (Tuesday)
  • Introduction to Elements
  • District Benchmark and continue Elements (Thursday)

Homework: U5, RA1 Elements and Compounds Due Friday, (students may have time to work on this HW in class after their tests on Monday and Tuesday so I am pushing back the 4% early-turn-in bonus to Wednesday for a 4%).

SCIENCE BOWL AFTER SCHOOL FIELD TRIP will be THIS Friday February 26th.  Omnitheater (Humpback Whales) and Exhibits. (Participating students will need a ride home from school.  The bus will return between 6:30 and 6:45 pm.)

    Math
2/16/16

This week we are beginning working on our new unit on Linear relationships and linear algebra. Our new CMP Text book is "Moving Straight Ahead".  Students should have turned in their old text.

We begin by looking at walking rates for a walkathon, and connecting them to mathematical representations as functions represented through language, context, tables, graphs, and eventually equations.

I will be gone on both Tuesday and Wednesday this week to attend a district training session, so students will have a guest teacher those days. Assignments will not be out of our text for those days, so look for handouts from the guest teacher.  I will return to class on Thursday.

The webpage lists what classwork we've done in class each day, references students' homework assignments, lists an availability schedule for students who need extra help, and has resources for parents & students.

The Hale/Field Foundation is in need of parents like you to share your talents in preparation for the 4/30/16 Spring Fling. Check out the options and sign up to volunteer here http://vols.pt/Hzdfk2

The Hale/Field Spring Fling is an annual adult-only fundraising event with food, cocktails, dancing and fun that raises tens of thousands of dollars each year for our school. Historically the funds raised have been used to supplement math, music, science, reading programs, field trips, traveling iPads and Smart Boards for classrooms as well as requests from teachers and administrators that implement the mission of "expanding education opportunities beyond the traditional boundaries of public education."

So come join your neighbors and friends (and make a few new ones), as we make this the best Spring Fling ever!
