Keep Working!
Students still have about one-and-a-half weeks of school left!  With the warm weather and beginning of June students are looking forward to summer. However, there is still learning taking place as we work our way through the end of this year.  Please help encourage your student to stay focused, finish the year strong, and not "slide" into summer break.

Students have received and completed their elective choice forms for EXPLORE classes for 8th-grade next year (2017-18) in their advisory classes. Administration did not want the forms sent home, as they were to be collected in advisory the same day they were filled out and turned in to the office.
We encourage parents to talk with your student about their choices for next year,
(additional copies of the forms are available on the Field School Website - LINKS are on the right side)
as that at this stage these forms can easily be altered or changed if students and parents find out that they want to rank their choices differently after discussing them together. Please feel free to contact your student's advisory teacher, or Ms. Martin (Assistant Principal), with any questions regarding these choices.

TRANSPORTATION/BUS FORMS for NEXT YEAR (2017-18) have been sent home 2 weeks ago in advisory classes. These forms are PAST DUE and need to be returned to confirm transportation needs for next year. (Students who are within the "walking area" for Field School might not have been given a form.) If your student's forms were not returned last week, you should have received another form as a 2nd-REQUEST last week.  DEADLINE on these forms has passed. Please return for ASAP to get these confirmed & turned in to the district office.
- Any questions on transportation, please contact Mary Beth Good in the Field School office (email: MaryBeth.Good@mpls.k12.mn.us)

mchHi all,
This is my last news letter of the year and I wanted to thank you for sending me such a great group kids to work with. We have had a good year and I look forward to seeing where the next phase in their adventures takes them.

This last week we will be working on creating and giving our "Pet Peeve" speech.

Summer reading: anything you can get your hands on. :)

To review science content, make-up notebook entries, watch a video clip about any science topic of interest - go to the 7th grade science web page at:  http://www.bolerscience.net/

The Learning Target Quiz on application of the Pythagorean Theorem (#7.4) will be returned this week.

Last week and this week we're exploring inequalities, graphing them and seeing how solving inequalities differs from solving equations. We do not have any text book for this unit, so students need to take good notes and pay attention in class in order to get the material being presented.  Any hand-outs from class can be downloaded from my Webpage.

There will be one more Learning Target quiz at the end of this week on Inequalities.

DEADLINE for submitting any "late" or "missing" assignments form this quarter is

      - Mr. Usem

Any students may re-take Learning Target quizzes to try to improve their score and to receive a passing grade showing that they understand the learning target. The top grade possible on a quiz "re-take" is an 85% score (a solid "B" grade).
* In order to do a re-take, students need to KEEP their old quiz, and BRING it in, with the correct answers (with explanations) on a SEPARATE SHEET [forms are available in Mr. Usem's room or downloadable from his webpage] on the items they missed. This will qualify them "ready to re-take" the quiz. Re-takes are to be done outside of regular class time, and can be done before-school, after-school, during recess, during Advisory study-hall on Thursdays, during the "EXPLORE Math-support" class, or during another time arranged with Mr. Usem. Students should make arrangements with Mr. Usem to do the re-takes.
- The DEADLINE for re-takes on the LT #7.5 & 7.6 quiz is... Thursday, June 8.

- students can come and work with Mr. Usem a variety of times each day, if they need extra help. Available times are posted in the classroom, as well as on Mr. Usem's webpage.
The webpage lists what classwork we've done in class each day, references students' homework assignments, lists an availability schedule for students who need extra help, and has resources for parents & students.
