Please contact Wendy Wolff if you are interested in being a chaperone for the 6th-8th grade Spring Dance! The "Black Out" dance will be held in the Field Commons on Friday March 22 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. We need volunteers to help with set up, managing the food table, coat check, supervising the dance floor and inspiring students to have fun in a positive environment. I can be reached at 612.668.3654 or via email, wendy.wolff@mpls.k12.mn.us. We look forward to another fun event!

Students are starting Stave 2 this week. We will take a look at the ideas of greed, redemption, joy, and charity and see how they play out in this Stave. We will also look at Mr. Scrooge and see what's behind his actions.

If you are looking for ways to help your student understand the complexity of A Christmas Carol you might want to have them watch one of the many film versions out there. I also have given kids a web address so they can listen to the story read aloud. In the past these have been helpful resources for the kids.

On Wednesday the kids and I will take our first look at the MCA practice test. If there are things they can work on at home on their own I will let you know.

    Social Studies -- Ms. Odermatt

We are nearing the end of the Civil War Reconstruction unit. This week students will use the information they have learned to create a political cartoon expressing the successes and failures of this period. They will receive a study guide and begin to prepare for the test on this unit which will be next week. No homework this week.

    Science - Mr. Boler

We will be ending our Properties of Matter unit this week. There will be a lab test on Tuesday and a written test on Wednesday.

Homework this week: study review guide, notes, and assignment folder!
