End of the
first quarter
This week marks the end of the quarter. We only 3 days for students this week.  Wednesday, October 28, is the last day of the first quarter...
(Wow... already! How time flies when you're having fun!)

There is NO SCHOOL for students on Thursday or Friday this week, as teachers have professional development and a record-keeping day.

Daylight Savings time ENDS this Sunday (Nov. 1) --- Remember to move your clocks BACK one hour (...or you'll get to school an hour early on Monday!)

 - The 7th Grade Team

    Language Arts
This week will start off with the students and I watching a movie. We will watch the Lorax so we all have a common experience that we can draw our examples from when learning about dystopias.

Additionally the students will be taking Quarter 1 district mandated Language Arts Assessments.

Reading a good book is like taking a vacation from reality. xo

Social Studies
Continuing Unit 2 this week.

No homework this week

   - Ms. Odermatt
This week in science we will :
  • Take a group quiz (open-book) on adaptations, features, traits, and variation within populations
  • Learn genetic terminology such as genotype, phenotype, dominant and recessive alleles
  • Test understanding using a computer simulation
HOMEWORK: No new homework this week.  Turn in all late work especially the test make-up form by Tuesday!

SCIENCE BOWL  Practice #3  is today - Monday 10/26.  Remember, no transportation is provided by the school. Practice ends at 3:45.

 - Mr. Boler

To review science content, make-up notebook entries, watch a video clip about any science topic of interest - go to the 7th grade science web page at:  http://www.bolerscience.net/

Monday students are taking a quiz on learning targets #2.8 (order-of-operations) and 2.9 (commutative, associative, and distributive properties).

Additionally the students will be taking Quarter 1 district mandated interim math assessments on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Students who received a score of 70% or below on Learning Target quizzes need to re-take them to improve their score and to receive a passing grade showing that they understand the learning target.

* In order to do a re-take, students need to KEEP their old quiz, and BRING it in, with the correct answers (with explanations) on a SEPARATE SHEET on the items they missed. This will qualify them "ready to re-take" the quiz. Re-takes are to be done outside of regular class time, and can be done before-school, after-school, during recess, or during B.E.S.T. class. Students should make arrangements with Mr. Usem to do the re-takes. Students will have 2 weeks from when the quizzes are handed back to complete the re-take.
(Deadlines for LT#2.3 and LT#2.4 are: TODAY Monday, Oct 26)
(Deadlines for LT#2.5 and LT#2.7 are: Wednesday, Oct 28)
- students can come and work with Mr. Usem a variety of times each day, if they need extra help. Available times are posted in the classroom, as well as on Mr. Usem's webpage.

      - Mr. Usem

The webpage lists what classwork we've done in class each day, references students' homework assignments, lists an availability schedule for students who need extra help, and has resources for parents & students.
