Midquarter grade reports:

Midquarter grades grades will be submitted by Wednesday October 3, 2012. Remember, students are receiving grades for homework, tests and participation on a frequent basis so progress grades can change quickly. For the most up to date information on your child's progress, check the parent portal and click on "assignments". If you or your child are confused about an assignment or a grade, encourage them to talk with their teacher and practice some self advocacy and problem solving skills. These will be important skills to have throughout middle school and we hope all students have it perfected by the time they get to high school!

    Math - Mr. West

Hello everybody! This week looks like testing all the time. Tuesday and Wednesday students are taking the fall MAP tests. Then we will be preparing for the unit test on Accentuate the Negative on Thursday and taking the test on Friday.

Quite a few students have been coming in at lunch and recess to work on improving their understanding and thus their grades. If yours is one of those kids make sure and give them a pat on the back. There are a lot of strongly motivated students in this seventh grade group.

    Social Studies -- Ms. Odermatt

This week we will focus on the expedition of Lewis and Clark. We will learn about the people selected for the Corps of Discovery, map the route, and analyze excerpts from the journals of Lewis and Clark. Homework this week is an interview with Thomas Jefferson and is due on Friday. I'm correcting Unit 1 tests and will hope to get them back this week.

Science - Mr. Boler, Ms. Morphis

This week we will take a closer look at the structure of cells and begin our investigation into plants. In Investigation 5 students will prepare a wet-mount slide of cheek scrapings to see evidence that humans, too, are made of cells. (What cell type is pictured?)

For homework this week students are to complete RA4 "Cell: The Basic Unit of Life". It will be due Friday but early turn-ins are much appreciated (turn in by Tuesday for a 4% bonus).

Science Bowl for 7th or 8th grade students will be starting on Monday October 8th. Science Bowl is for students who like science and math, fast paced competitions, and working with others. An information/sign-up form was passed out to interested students in science class last week. Please return the form by Friday October 5th. (To get a new form see one of the science teachers or download a form by going to the Field website - look for Science Bowl under the Events sidebar.)
