Language Arts

Welcome back to another great year at Field. I hope your child finds Language Arts interesting and that we can get everyone to work to their full potential.  Within the next week I will be uploading, to my web page,  the 7th grade English Language Arts Year At A Glance. This document shows the themes and standards we will be working on this year. My homework policy as well as other class information can also be found on the web page. I will try to keep it updated so you all will have an idea what we are up to in LA.

Feel free to e-mail me if you have questions or concerns this year.  mahal001@mpls.k12.mn.us is the best address to use.

We are off to a great start in U.S. Studies! Ask your student for an overview on the Declaration of Independence.  They worked in groups to put it into their own words.  This week we will dig into the Constitution and the Bill of Rights.  Students will then have a chance to discuss some Supreme Court decisions. Homework assignment is due on Friday.

What a crazy start the school year!

HOT temperatures, school closings, and a couple of short weeks... On top of which I needed to take off 2 days at the end of last week to be able to celebrate the Jewish
Holiday of Rosh Hashanah (the Jewish New year).

We've been doing a bit of review of some concepts from last year, and been getting familiar again with concepts of perimeter, area, and volume.
This week we'll be heading off full-steam as we begin to explore how these concepts apply to circles and cylinders.
