From Hale Principal Ryan Fitzgerald:

I am saddened to inform you that one of our teachers, Loretta Main, will not be returning to Hale for the remainder of the year. Ms. Main has been diagnosed with a terminal brain tumor, and our thoughts are with her and her family during this difficult time. Ms. Main is in good spirits, has excellent medical care, and has the loving support of her husband and extended family. She has shared that she has greatly enjoyed getting to know each student in her class this year and feels that this is one of the best classes she has been blessed to teach.
A Caring Bridge has been set up for Ms. Main if you would like to visit it and write her a note. The link iscaringbridge.org and name is all one~ lorettamain. In addition, all the students in 3rd grade will be writing cards for her over the next few days.

Students have already begun reading our next

We will continue to record observations on various characters through analyzing character narratives and poems.  Students have also begun writing their own collection of poems! We will complete the majority of these poems in class, but additional time will be required
outside of class at home.

Several students in each class will have the opportunity to share a poem as part of our Weisman artist residency!
More to come later on the final visit to the Weisman on January 5th!
