Eighth Grade Newsletter: Monday, June 12th
8th Grade

For the week of
Monday, June 12th

Welcome Field Mice Families!

8th Grade Green Card Ceremony
The 8th Grade Graduation Ceremony will take place on Wednesday, June 14th.  ALL 8th graders will be recognized during the ceremony.  Parents may begin finding seats in the commons at 8:00 AM with the ceremony starting at 8:15 AM.  There will be a brief moment for pictures after the ceremony before 8th graders leave for Valleyfair.

Valleyfair Reminders
Please remember that students returning on the buses to Field will not arrive at school until 4:30 PM.  Students should have a way home pre-arranged (ride, city bus, walk, bike, etc.).  At Valleyfair students are responsible for their own items at Valleyfair (lunch, sunscreen, swimsuit, towel, ect.) and should plan ahead.  If a student changes their mind and decides to ride the bus back it is their responsibility to make sure they are at the exit of the park on time and communicate their change in plans to their parent/guardian.

A Midsummer Night's Dream (It's over!)

Think but this, all is mended-
That you have but slumbered here
While these visions did appear.

Has this all been but a dream? It is always an inspiring moment to look back with awe on everything you have accomplished in the past school year.  As we look ahead I would like to say a heartfelt thank you too all of our students and families for sharing in another school year. May you all continue to apply a growth mindset as you begin your high school years. I hope you all have the most relaxing and fulfilling summer!
Please feel free to follow me on Instagram (mr.sundlin) and I will keep you posted on my upcoming adventures teaching at the American School of Tegucigalpa in Honduras!  It has been an honor to be a part of the Field School community!

"But I don't have any homework! It's summer break!?"
Keep up your independent reading! ALL summer.

Dear Eighth Grader and Family,

Minneapolis Public Schools would like to invite you to be a Fast Track Scholar this summer!  This exciting program provides current 8th grade (going into 9th) students with the opportunity to meet new high school classmates and begin earning high school elective credits.  The goal is to prepare students for a smooth transition to high school. In order to participate, students must meet ALC criteria such as not meeting grade level academic standards, English Language Learner, or having inconsistent school attendance which significantly impacts achievement. AVID students also qualify to attend Fast Track Scholars, and teachers/counselors may recommend students.
