Welcome Back, Field Mice Families!

It was fantastic meeting with so many families during conferences!  Thank you to everyone who came.  If you happened to miss conferences or if you simply just want to check in, remember you can always contact your student's teachers for an update on their progress at any time.

Quarter 1 ends next week!  Missing work, test/project fixes, and retakes must be completed by the end of the day Wednesday, Nov. 2 (individual teacher deadlines may vary).  Please take care of these things sooner rather than later.  Ask your teachers if you have any questions about their policy.

Picture Retake Day is this week Wednesday (Oct 26th).  Students must have their first picture packet  in order to do retakes.  Pictures can be ordered online as well.

Referendum 2016

On Nov. 8, Minneapolis voters will be asked to renew the school district's current operating referendum authorization, which expires after the 2016-17 school year. If passed, funding would help Minneapolis Public Schools manage class sizes and provide supportive services and activities for students. The request would authorize the referendum for nine years and be annually adjusted for inflation. Property taxes are not projected to increase if the referendum renewal passes. Our Next Weisman Museum Visit!
Our next visit to the Weisman Museum will focus on the
Critical Response questions we practiced using during our last visit.
Students will be using this process to select a work of art that will become a narrative, a poem, and support the artwork they will complete with Sharon Louden, our artist-in-residence.
Our next visit to the Weisman is this Thursday, October 27th!
There is a request for available chaperones following this ELA blurb below!

The Giver (Chapters 21-23)
This week, students will reflect, reread, record, and discuss their understanding of what happens to Jonas' and Gabe in the final chapters of The Giver. We will also be analyzing what was the purpose of the author Lois Lowry's ambiguous ending to her novel.

If students have a missing for their Independent Reading Reflection, the online link can be found in the upper-right corner of my Independent Reading webpage.
