To Redo or Not Redo?

Students received writing assignments, grammar and vocabulary quizzes this past week.  They have the option to redo these assignments to show mastery for each assignment's learning target.  A redo must be completed within a week of returning the assignment to the student.  Students MUST include a Redo Action Plan worksheet, the original assignment or quiz, and the redo.  If students require additional assistance in completing a redo please see Mr. S, and we will come up with a plan for success!

We are moving past the ways that heat is transferred and into the process of convection this week - a fundamental driver of our weather and climate.  As a side note, the lunar eclipse (Blood Moon) will be visible Wednesday morning around 5:30 until 6:00 - low in the horizon - barring cloudy skies, it should be worth getting up early for!

Our schedule for this week:

Monday: Science Notebook Detective - checking and revising notes on Radiation/Conduction.

Tuesday: Quiz - Radiation/Conduction (Heat Transfer)

Wednesday:
Convection - Lab of the Layers

Thursday: Convection Notes and Demonstration

Friday: Convection in the Ocean - Lab Inquiry

Have a great week!

News from the PTA

Field Community School's Book Fair is

Monday, November 17 at Galleria Barnes and Noble in Edina from 6 to 8 pm.

Field Student will be performing as part of our wonderful Music Program

As Middle school Parents, we aren't always as involved in our children's school but there are things like the B & N book fair that you can participate in.  Put it on your calendar, come see our kids perform and support the school by purchasing Wish List books for Teachers, or buying your child's favorite author or start a little early holiday shopping.

Remember to mark it down. Fall is here and everyone's schedule gets busy. We need you to attend and participant to show your support of all the kids and Field Community School.

Thank you all so very much!

Do you like to downhill ski?

Minneapolis Public Schools has a fantastic downhill ski racing team that competes around the state against other schools.   We are actively seeking to add seventh and eighth grade students to our team for the 2014-15 season. We invite you to attend a parent-athlete information meeting at Southwest High School on Monday, October 20th at 6:30PM in the school cafeteria. If you would like to learn more about our team immediately, please check out our website:
           www.mplsalpineski.org
And you can always give Mark Conway a call with your questions. Start young so you can ski with the best when you are older.
