The Giver: Ceremony of 12
Students have begun discussing the significant moments of the text that identify the rules of Jonas' community.  This week we'll discover which job Jonas received from the Elders. This connects directly with the essays students wrote last week about themselves.
Remember to check the portal to see that your child has turned in their work.  I will immediately record missing work, and change the portal by the end of the day once work has been turned in. If a student receives less than a '3' (Meets Standards) on an assignment they are expected to redo their work and complete a Redo/Retake Action Plan to show improvement in the quality of their work and growth.  Our next graded assignment will be a quiz on Chapters 1-9 the following Tuesday (9/22).
I will be reviewing the Redo/Retake Action Plan steps Monday(9/14).

Special directions for assignments can be found on The Giver page of my website.

Students have also begun reviewing AVID strategies for difficult or unfamiliar words in our Words of the Week activity. Our first WoW#1 quiz is on this Friday. Review those words!
