English Language Arts (ELA)
It's not too late to boast about your child!
I just finished reading the 100th letter from families defining and paying tribute to their child.  Again, I may have never known all the wonderful particulars that make up our students without your input.  Thank you for the time and effort spent.  I am already using this information to plan curriculum, make connections, and support students.  If you have not been able to write a quick note about your child so far, please feel free to send your letter (email or handwritten) to me at your earliest convenience. Thanks again!

Students have begun reading chapters from The Giver at home, writing in-class reflections in their Readers/Writers Notebooks, and discussing their insights in class discussions. We will continue to focus on the "gist" for each chapter, rereading to identify significant moments from the text, and collaborating in class discussions.

This week we will introduce new weekly class routines:

  • Vocabulary: Words of the Week(WoW)
  • Independent Reading

I have been greatly encouraged by the students and their desire to learn from their mistakes.  The students have been raising their hand to share the mistake they made which allows all to learn from many different mistakes.
