Hope you are enjoying your summer break, Field families!

I wanted to briefly interrupt the fun to make some introductions and pass along information on the new school year.

My name is Jennifer Kane and this is my second year as PTA Co-chair. My daughter, Keely, will be an 8th grader this year. My new PTA Co-chair is Rachel Walker, who has a 6th grader at Field, as well as a 3rd grader at Hale. You will hear from her directly in next month's newsletter.

This year, Rachel and I are joined by three returning veteran PTA Board Members and one new member. Their introductions are included at the end of this newsletter.

We look forward to saying hello to you and your family at the Back to School Open Houses next week. Please stop by our PTA table to learn more about our 2018-19 events and how your family can get involved.

Speaking of the Open Houses ...

-The dates and times for each are listed to the left and below. If you're new to Field, these events are a great chance to tour the building, meet staff and pick up your child's daily schedule.

-You will soon receive a mailing that includes a Welcome Letter, our PTA schedule of events and a PTA membership/volunteer form. Please bring the form with you to the Open House.

-In preparation for the open houses and first day of school, we will be sprucing up the school's grounds this Tuesday, August 14 from 6-8 p.m. Any length of time that you can stop by and help would be appreciated.

Throughout the school year, watch for PTA information in our weekly email blasts as well as our monthly newsletter. This is the best way to stay informed about PTA events, updates and things you need to know. You can also check out the PTA tab on the Field website.

I hope you enjoy the rest of your summer! I look forward to meeting many of you soon.

INFORMATION AND REMINDERS
Meet our 2018-19 Field PTA Board Members
Hi everyone, I am Rachel Walker and this will be my first year on the Field PTA board. I am excited! My daughter will be in 6th grade this year. My husband Rob Weigel and I also have a 3rd grade daughter at Hale. We have lived in the neighborhood for 14 years and really enjoy all the wonderful things to do that are right outside our front door - bike, walk, kayak on the lake, ice skate, etc. We also love trying all the neighborhood ice cream and donut places! When I am not at home or volunteering at school, I work as a Policy Analyst for the League of Minnesota Cities. I served on the Hale PTA board for many years and am looking forward to getting to know the Field community better.

My name is Jessica Burmaster and I am the new Field PTA Communications Chair. With my youngest "graduating" from Hale last Spring, I am trading in my classroom volunteer hat for my first position on the PTA. My husband, Bob, and I have lived in South Minneapolis for almost 17 years and our three kids all started at Hale in Kindergarten. This Fall our family drops down to two schools for the first time in quite a while. Will is a Senior (gulp!) and Carter is a Freshman at Washburn, and Izzy is a 5th grader here at Field. A big year of transitions for all of us! I look forward to serving and working with this community that I love.

My name is Angie Helland and I am the PTA treasurer. My husband Luke and I have been married for 18 years and have four kids:  Denali (9th grade), McKinley (7th grade), Danika (5th grade) and Bridger (1st grade at Windom). Our family is rounded out by an ornery German shepherd dog named Minne. I'm looking forward to continuing to build a strong community at Field.

My name is Jana Ott and I am a lawyer by day, "dance mom" by night, and the Field PTA Secretary in between. I work as a real estate attorney at Thrivent Financial and live in South Minneapolis with my husband of thirteen years and our three daughters, ages 7, 12, and 13. During the summer, we spend many weekends at our cabin in Clear Lake, Iowa, where we enjoy biking, boating, running, and spending lots of time with family and friends. I came to Minneapolis 16 years ago from Iowa and while I will always be an Iowa Hawkeye, our South Minneapolis neighborhood has become our little small-town community in the big city, and we love seeing our neighbors at the parks, restaurants, sporting events and school functions. We cannot imagine living anywhere else.

My name is Trisha Hanson I am the Field Membership Chair and also the No-Sale Fundraiser Co-chair. I have been fortunate to be involved with the Hale & Field community for 10 years. My husband Tim & I have 4 kids that keep us busy. Tucker will be a 10th grader at Washburn. Capri will be a 8th grader and Mac will be a 6th grader at Field. Calia will be a 4th grader at Hale. We enjoy music, sports and movies. Our summer fun has playing an 'old school' card game called Flinch! We highly recommend it!

My name is Jennifer Kane and this is my second year as PTA Co-Chair. I've lived in Minneapolis for 22 years and my husband Josh and I have one daughter, Keely (an 8th grader at Field) as well as two very lazy Basset Hounds. In addition to being a Hale/Field classroom volunteer and parent chaperone for seven years, I'm an author, public speaker, and marketing/communications consultant. I'd like to invite you to contact me at jen@jenkane.com if you have any suggestions, questions, or concerns this year about the PTA or Field School.
