RECOMMENDED
GUITAR PRACTICE ROUTINE
Please monitor your child's practice routine. I recommend a minimum of 15 minutes working on our ensemble music and scales/chords every day that we don't meet for class, including weekends.  I am noticing quite a few students falling behind...
"MUSIC X ENSEMBLE" (aka Music Explorations Class)
Students have finally chosen their primary and secondary instruments.  Those students who chose to focus on GUITAR need to fill out a RENTAL/BOOK FORM before they will be allowed to take the guitar assigned to them home to practice (see above).

*HALE / FIELD ANNIVERSARY EVENT ( Thursday, Nov. 9th @ FIELD SCHOOL)
This event commemorates the pairing of Hale and Field Community Schools (1971) and begins officially begins at 6pm in the commons at Field School.  Field Jazz band will be performing along with a special guest and former Field student!  There will be a panel discussion and displays about the Hale/Field community history.  All able-bodied individuals are asked to sit towards the back so that any elderly attendees do not have to climb up the stairs.  TREBLE CHOIR and  CONCERT CHOIR report to the CHOIR ROOM @ 6:15pm to warm up and run through music together.  Students should NOT cut through the commons, but instead go down the gym hallway to get to the choir room where they will stay with me until performance time.  Choirs will perform @ 7pm.  Immediately following their performance, I will briefly unlock my room for anyone who needs to grab coats and take off early.

Outstanding Students at Field School!

Greetings!

Good health takes daily effort.
Please remind your child to wash hands, eat candy/sweets in moderation  and play safe.

We concluded volleyball.
Our goal was utilizing combination skills of forearm and set pass.

Upcoming Unit:  Ultimate Disc.

Fitness Tests:  December 1-12

Participation in individual and group activities increases your child's resilience.  All students have improved their fitness level through various
exercises and sports.
In addition, students worked in pairs quizzing each other and learned to work as a team.

Visual Art
Volunteers and Donations needed!

Grades 7 and 8 are going to be working on an assemblage sculpture starting on November 10. This requires found objects that are smallish, but strange-ish that would look cool in a sculpture. Cans of nails, screws, and miscellaneous hardware are very welcome, beads, buttons, junk jewelry, old CDs, corks, bottle caps, PVC, scrap wood and more are needed in the art room.

I would love it if there are parents that would like to volunteer for this project to help us with tools and help solve construction problems. You can come for one or two hours, several days or one day..... email me to sign up for a time.
Need daily volunteers between November 17 and December 8, from 8:35-10:20 am.

Field School Artwork on display at the John B. Davis Center Gallery. This is our district's Educational Service Center at 1250 W. Broadway Ave. We have the month of November reserved so I will have 5-8th grade work on display. Students will be notified if their work is chosen, and will bring a note home to parents to share more information.

5th and 6th grade: We just got done with a very cool pattern project. You can see those up on the walls of the school. This week we are  continuing to talk color theory and are completing some complementary color paintings that have some extreme optical effects!
The second and third weeks of November will bring a fun clay project and then we will head back to the world of drawing with a focus on perspective.

7th and 8th grade: These amazing artists just started to create a series of landscapes. We worked with paper collage and now are doing a watercolor study. We have time for a pastel study prior to taking a break for our assemblage sculpture unit. Please consider volunteering! Or donating some junk! We will work on sculpture all the way up to winter break.

I use MyMPS for student resources. Your student can access their blended art room on mps.itslearning.com (link below) and find information about assignments, occasional homework, deadlines and links to cool art resources. If they have missing work or you have a question about what we are working on in class, please have your student log in to that site and check the planner.

Additionally, I've created a website that is serving as an art gallery for our classes. This is a great way for you to check to see what we've been making. My  goal is to keep uploading work and create new blog posts when we begin new assignments. Click below to see student artwork.

This month we will continue learning about the verbs quiere ser (he/she wants to be), habla (he/she talks or speaks) and toma (he/she takes). I am also introducing students to the different conjugations of verbs. For example, all verbs ending in ar follow a specific pattern in conjugation; tomar (to take), yo tomo (I take), tú tomas (you take), él/ella/usted toma (he/she takes and you formal take), ellos/ellas/ustedes toman (male/female/they take and you all take), nosotros tomamos (we take). If you have any questions please don't hesitate to email or call.
