Field PTA Board

Greetings, Field families!

Well, that went quickly, didn't it?! Hope your family has enjoyed some time off from school and that your Field Mice had just enough "unstructured time" (a.k.a. boredom) that they are looking forward to going back in a couple weeks.

A little bit about myself: This is my second year as PTA co-chair. My youngest daughter (Phoebe) will be a 7th grader this year. She has two older sisters who are also former Field Mice: Piper, who will be a sophomore at Washburn this year, and Zoe, who will be a freshman at University of Minnesota.

I have a new co-chair this year: Jennifer Kane. Her daughter will also be a 7th grader this year. You will hear from her directly in next month's newsletter. We are joined this year by two returning veterans and two new members.

Please read to the very end of this newsletter to find out more about our PTA team.
You may see some of us at the PTA table at the open houses, so please stop by and say hello.

Speaking of two open houses, a couple things in that regard:
·        You will soon receive a mailing that includes a PTA membership form. Please bring that with you to your student's open house.
·        In preparation for next week's open houses, we will be sprucing up the grounds this Wednesday August 16 from 5-8 p.m. Any length of time that you can stop by and help would be appreciated.

Also, watch for PTA information in weekly email blasts. We have a blast that goes out on Monday and a monthly newsletter. This is the best way to stay informed about PTA events, updates and things you need to know. You can also check out the PTA calendar on the Field website.

I look forward to meeting you and getting to know you better this school year. Enjoy the rest of summer!

Everyone is welcome, and we'll have lawn/leaf bags and water on hand.

Meet our 2017-2018 PTA Board Members
My name is Jennifer Kane and I am the new PTA Co-Chair. My husband Josh and I have one daughter, Keely who will be a 7th grader this year. I've been a Hale-Field classroom volunteer and parent chaperone for six years, but the changing political climate in the country inspired me to join the PTA and become involved in a different way. I look forward to being an advocate for parents, for kids, and for the public school system during the next two years and hope to reach out to other parents who, like me, may be new to PTA involvement. In the meantime, if you have any suggestions, questions, or concerns about the PTA, please feel free to email me at
My name is Angie Helland and I am the PTA treasurer.  My husband Luke and I have been married for 17 years and have four kids:  Denali (8th grade), McKinley (6th grade), Danika (4th grade) and Bridger (Kinder at Windom). Our family is rounded out by an ornery German shepherd dog named Minne.   I'm looking forward to continuing to build a strong community at Field

My name is Jana Ott and I am a lawyer by day, "dance mom" by night, and now the Field PTA Secretary in between.  I work as a real estate attorney at Thrivent Financial and live in South Minneapolis with my husband of thirteen years and our three daughters, ages 6, 11, and 12.  During the summer, we spend many weekends at our cabin in Clear Lake, Iowa, where  we enjoy biking, boating, running, and spending lots of time with family and friends.  I came to Minneapolis 15 years ago from Iowa and-while I will always be an Iowa Hawkeye-our  South Minneapolis neighborhood has become our little small-town community in the big city and we love seeing our neighbors at the parks, restaurants, sporting events, and school functions.  We cannot imagine living anywhere else.

My name is Trisha Hanson I am the Field Membership Chair and also the No Sale Fundraiser Co-chair. I have been fortunate to be involved with the Hale & Field community for 9 years. My husband Tim & I have 4 kids that keep us busy.  Tucker will be a 9th grader at Washburn. Capri will be a 7th grader and Mac will be a 5th grader at Field. Calia will be a 3rd grader at Hale. We enjoy music, sports and movies. Our summer fun has playing an 'old school' card game called Flinch!  We highly recommend it!

My name is Melanie Faulhaber and I am the communications chair and I also help co chair the No Sale fundraiser. I have a son, Nolan who is in 5th grade at Field and a daughter Hailey who will be a freshman at Washburn. I work as a parent educator in the Minneapolis school district and have lived in with my husband and family in Minneapolis for 20 years. I enjoy working with the PTA at both schools and have made some close friends during my volunteer time with Hale and Field. I love to read, ride my bike and try to be creative. Our family likes to go camping, watch movies, and spend time with our friends. I am very thankful for the Hale and Field community, teachers and staff.
