Hello Field Families!

Happy October. I know for many of you this means the beginning of the dreaded cold weather. My favorite season has always been autumn and I am loving the changing leaves and the crisp air (could do with less rain though!)

This week be sure to stop in at Field tomorrow for the Flu Shot Clinic. Visiting nurses will be on hand to help make sure you and your family stay healthy this flu season.

Please mark your calendars for an important presentation on vaping on Thursday, October 24 from 6:30-8 p.m. Minneapolis Health Department experts will give parents and guardians information and resources about vaping. This is an adult-only event. Please come with your questions.

Thank you, as always, for your support of the PTA. And be sure to share your ideas and questions with us. The vaping presentation is happening because several parents brought the issue up to us.

Happy Fall!

Field PTA Co-chair

Staff Dinner Donations Needed
Let's thank our teachers and staff for the long days (and evenings) they put into Fall Parent/Teacher Conferences by giving them One Big Fat Greek Dinner on Thursday, October 10Sign up here.
Save the Date: October 24 Vaping Presentation at Field for Parents and Guardians
Vaping and the risks of vaping are in the news every day. On Thursday, October 24 from 6:30-8 p.m. (note the time change) experts from the Minneapolis City Health Department will make a presentation to help parents and guardians understand what vaping is, the risks, and how to prepare our kids for making healthy choices. The PTA is in conversation with the Health Department around how to bring vaping information into the curriculum for students. This event is for adults only.

Rockin' the Parkway Theater
Mark your calendars for Sunday, November 10 and join your fellow Hale/Field parents for a Sunday Funday event that supports Hale and Field schools. Rockin' the Parkway Theater is an 18+ live concert with cash bar featuring Hale and Field professional parent musicians including:
  • The Jeremy Ylivisaker + Mike Lewis + JT Bates Trio
  • D8MChild
  • Six Mile Grove
Tickets are $20 each and all proceeds go to Hale and Field. To order tickets, print the attached flyer and return to the Field office along with cash or check. Let's sell out the Parkway!
48th & Chicago Progressive Event
A few spots remain for another adult fundraising event, the 48th & Chicago Progressive Event. On Sunday, October 27 from 5-8 p.m., you can craft, shop, eat and socialize with exclusive discounts at several local business along Chicago Ave. For more details and to reserve your spot, print the attached flyer and return to the Field office with cash or check.
Box Tops
Going forward, instead of clipping from packages and checking expiration dates, all Box Tops will be earned digitally by scanning your receipt. Learn more here.
If you still have traditional Box Tops clips at home, make sure to send them to school with your student (to the main office). We will still earn cash for all clipped Box Tops until they expire. Please send them in by Wednesday, October 23 so our volunteers can count and prepare them for the deadline to submit. Thanks!

Field Spirit Wear On Sale Now
Visit the Field Spirit Wear online store to purchase pom pom hats, flannel bottoms, and traditional t-shirts and sweatshirts. The Field Spirit Wear online store will be open through Monday, October 14. We are partnering with General Sports, a family-owned company locally based in Edina. Online ordering is simple and secure. Purchased items will be delivered to your child at school the first week in November.
PTA Committee Chairs Needed
It's not too late to get involved at Field. We are still looking to fill the positions below. If you've never served on a committee or are looking for a new way to get involved, we'd love to hear from you! If you are interested in any of the following positions, please contact Rachel Walker at or Erin Mitchell at

Music Event Coordinator: This position would help coordinate volunteers for band and choir concerts and events.
No Sale Fundraiser Committee Co-Chair: This Co-Chair is responsible for getting information out to Hale and Field via Constant Contact (training is provided) and Facebook. You would also work with the Hale and Field Communications Chairs and the No Sale Co-Chair, Trisha Hanson, to come with ideas of how to promote the fundraiser. It is a fundraiser that pretty much runs itself and it's really fun to help raise money for our schools.
