Field PTA Board

Hello Field Families,

I hope everyone enjoyed the extra week of summer before starting school this year! The shorter, four-day first week of school was a nice way to transition back into school and routine. I am excited to join the Field PTA this year along with Rachel Walker as Co-Chair. As I mentioned in my bio last month, my son, Cameron, is a 6th grader this year and my son, Donovan, is a 3rd grader. I will be involved in activities at both Field and Hale this year.

As the school year begins, please reach out to either myself, Rachel or any of the other PTA Board Members if you have any comments, questions, concerns or suggestions. If we do not have the answers, we will work to connect you to the person who will be able to best help you.

There are so many ways to support the Field PTA. For example, attending school PTA events, donating to the No Sale Fundraiser, giving your time and talent to committees, and by becoming a member of the Field PTA. The cost of being a member of the Field PTA is just $10 for the year. Your $10 helps us keep our status with the MN and National PTA. Having a PTA at Field ensures our ability to raise money through your generous donations and use those donations to fund supplies and programs that benefit your Field student. Thank you for your support!

Wishing everyone a great second week of school!

Picture Day
Picture Day is Monday, September 16. To order pictures online visit, The Field Picture Day ID is EVTCPSN43. If you order before Monday, September 16, you can receive a free photo book and drawstring backpack from Shutterfly, and your student will not need to return any paperwork on Picture Day!
Dine Out Night at The Lowbrow
On Monday, September 23 from 4-9:30 p.m., the Field PTA will receive 10% of your bill at The Lowbrow, 4244 Nicollet Ave. S. Enjoy a great meal and support Field PTA!
Future Miller Night at Washburn
Washburn High School invites you and your parent(s) to "Future Miller" night at Washburn Stadium on Thursday, September 12. Watch the talented players of the Varsity Boys and Girls Soccer teams play South High School! Raffle prizes will be awarded and you'll have the opportunity to meet the Miller coaching staff and participate in fun competitions in between games and at halftime. Admission is free for all middle school students but parents will need to pay $6 per person at the gate. Registration is not required, but encouraged here.
Hale School Fall Festival
The Hale School Fall Festival is Saturday, September 14. Many volunteers are needed to make this event a success. It's a great opportunity for Field students to give back to their former school. Find a friend and sign up here.

Hale School Pancake Breakfast
Who doesn't like pancakes? Come to the Back-to-School Pancake Breakfast, hosted by the 4th grade class on Saturday, September 21 from 8-10 a.m. in the Hale School Lunchroom. A donation of $5 per person is suggested. While you're at Hale, check out the last day of the Scholastic Book Fair in the Media Center.
PTA Committee Chairs Needed
A new year means new vacancies for PTA Committee Chairs. If you've never served on a committee or are looking for a new way to get involved, the Field PTA needs you! If you are interested in any of the following positions, please contact Rachel Walker at or Erin Mitchell at You can also stop by the PTA table at the Open Houses to talk to a PTA Board member. We are looking for:

Yearbook Advisor: Any former yearbook editors or staffers out there? We are looking for a new Yearbook Advisor. The yearbook is a beloved tradition at Field and it needs a new leader.

Music Event Coordinator: This position would help coordinate volunteers for band and choir concerts and events.
No Sale Fundraiser Committee Co-Chair: This Co-Chair is responsible for getting information out to Hale and Field via Constant Contact (training is provided) and Facebook. You would also work with the Hale and Field Communications Chairs and the No Sale Co-Chair, Trisha Hanson, to come with ideas of how to promote the fundraiser. It is a fundraiser that pretty much runs itself and it's really fun to help raise money for our schools.
